"Although the vast majority of the profiles were still in good condition, the glazing and hinges needed upgrading"
Geoff ThompsonTandridge Housing DepartmentGrove Road is typical of thousands of social housing developments across the UK. Owned and managed by Tandridge District Council, it comprises 24 flats in two three-storey blocks. A window improvement program was initiated and Tandridge DC set about investigating the most cost effective and practical solution to the seemingly straightforward issue of window replacement.
Utilising Prima’s CAPITALSTRETCH service the cost, disruption to tenants and environmental concerns were all substantially reduced by retaining the PVCu frames whilst upgrading the components and glazing (from single to high performance double glazing). This resulted in satisfied tenants and compliant windows with the residual balance sheet value being retained and enhanced which would not have been achievable through full replacements.
