Shepway District Council, situated along the channel coast in Kent, had a full replacement PVCu window program that commenced in the late 1980’s. Over the next 15 years a lack of maintenance meant responsive calls and associated costs were rising and tenant satisfaction reducing. Previously working under a standard schedule of rates the council had minimal cost certainty as well as a rising number of issues with the unserviceable window components.
In partnership with Prima an ASSETSTRETCH service was instigated which transferred the liability for the operation, hardware and responsive calls away from the council. The underlying mechanics of the service mean that an annual service is undertaken which has halved the responsive rates as well as pushing out the lifetime certainty of the asset components at a fixed cost.
